As the New Year draws near, the eagerly awaited pre-sale box office numbers for the Spring Festival have been announced. According to data from Lighthouse Professional Edition, by 10 AM on January 20, the cumulative pre-sale box office for the festival has exceeded 210 million yuan, setting a record for the quickest film to achieve 200 million yuan in pre-sales in Chinese cinema’s Spring Festival history. “The Legend of the Condor Heroes: The Great Hero” is currently at the forefront, marking the fastest film to hit the 100 million yuan pre-sale milestone for the Spring Festival.
Alongside “The Legend of the Condor Heroes” surpassing 100 million, both “Ne Zha” and “Detective Chinatown 1900” have surpassed 30 million in pre-sales, with “The Investiture of the Gods Part Two: War in the West” closely trailing behind.
Six films scheduled for release during the Spring Festival of 2025 are primarily adaptations of popular intellectual properties or sequels to well-established films. Notably, “The Legend of the Condor Heroes,” directed by the celebrated martial arts filmmaker Tsui Hark, draws from Jin Yong’s classic novel. Meanwhile, “The Investiture of the Gods,” helmed by Wu Ershan, follows the success of its predecessor, “Investiture of the Gods: Part One,” which premiered in July 2023 and earned over 2.6 billion yuan at the box office.
Additionally, “Nezha” is a sequel to a familiar property; its earlier release, “Nezha: Birth of the Demon Child,” debuted in the summer of 2019 and made an impressive 5.035 billion yuan, placing it among the four films in Chinese cinema history that have surpassed the 5 billion yuan mark.
Recent reports indicate that the long version trailer for “The Legend of the Condor Heroes: The Great Hero,” featuring Xiao Zhan, garnered over 40 million views within just half a day, showcasing the star’s immense appeal.
