Reaching new heights! As of approximately 7 PM on January 20, the pre-sale box office for the Spring Festival season of 2025 has surpassed 250 million yuan. It has also achieved milestones such as “setting the record for the quickest pre-sale to hit 100 million, marking a first in the history of Chinese cinema during Spring Festival,” as it continues its journey towards a 300 million box office. In terms of individual movie success during this period, “The Legend of the Condor Heroes: The Great Hero,” directed by Tsui Hark and featuring Xiao Zhan, takes the lead with a pre-sale box office of 119 million yuan, becoming the first film to exceed 100 million in pre-sales for the 2025 Spring Festival season.
It’s important to note that “The Legend of the Condor Heroes: The Great Hero” presently has a relatively small number of screenings, placing it fourth among the six films featured in the Spring Festival lineup. The remarkable pre-sale box office results of the film, despite its limited showings, can be primarily credited to the support from Xiao Zhan’s fanbase.
Following “The Legend of the Condor Heroes: The Great Hero,” the films achieving better pre-sale numbers include “Nezha: Birth of the Demon Child,” “Detective Chinatown 3,” and “Fengshen: Part Two – The Battle of West Qi,” all of which have exceeded 30 million in pre-sale box office, establishing them as the “second tier” at this point in the pre-sales.
According to public records, Xiao Zhan is a male actor and singer from mainland China. He gained fame in 2015 after competing on Zhejiang TV’s talent show “Burning Youth.” His role as Wei Wuxian in the costume fantasy series “The Untamed,” which premiered on June 27, 2019, further increased his popularity.
